Everyone loves a story where a small seed grows into something extraordinary. For the Michael Taiwo Scholarships, that seed was planted in 2019 when the vision of our Founder and CEO, Dr. Michael Taiwo, took root — a vision to guide a younger generation and level the playing field for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Six years later, what began as a dream has become a global movement that continues to shape lives and rewrite destinies across continents.

Stories that Inspire

Take Adewale Ejaonibu, who once walked the grounds of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, with dreams that seemed too distant to reach. Today, he walks the halls of Auburn University on a fully funded scholarship, proving that mentorship and support can transform dreams into reality. 

From Delta State, Peterkings Jokoh once carried ambitions scribbled in quiet notebooks. Today, those ambitions echo in classrooms at the University of Houston, Texas. 

From Gujarat Technological University in India, Anu Sharma has journeyed to the University of Massachusetts, where she is now pursuing her PhD and expanding the frontiers of knowledge.

From Ekiti, Oluwapelumi Egunjobi dreamed of building a future in the global hub of innovation. Today, she thrives at Stanford University, right in the heart of Silicon Valley. 

From Bauchi, Nazifi Abdullah once wondered if opportunities beyond Nigeria’s borders were out of reach; now, the University of Nottingham is his academic home. 

And from Nsukka, Chiwendu Aneke, who once wrestled with self-doubt, now thrives at Dartmouth College, carrying with her the hopes of many who watched her journey unfold. 

These are only a few of the countless stories that gladden our hearts, living proof that no dream is too far when given the wings of opportunity. 

The Numbers Tell a Story Too

In just six years, our organization has grown from supporting 7 scholars in its first year to nearly 300 scholars to date, receiving over 43,000 applications from 65+ countries across five continents. 

With more than $5 million invested directly in the futures of young leaders and over 100 graduate school acceptances at top universities worldwide, the impact speaks for itself. 

Yet, beyond the numbers lies our true legacy: transformed lives. Students who once thought the world was beyond their reach are now shaping it from classrooms and labs across the United States, Europe, and beyond.

A Community of Changemakers

This success is not the work of one man. It is the fruit of a community of volunteers who dedicate their time to reviewing essays and documents, mentors who patiently guide scholars through every stage of their journey, and donors whose generosity breaks down financial barriers.
